Harpist for Wedding Ceremonies

I have performed for thousands of wedding ceremonies over the years and have found that wedding ceremonies dictate special attention and requirements.

Charleston Harp during Wedding Ceremony - Harp MusicTypically, I arrive about one hour prior to a wedding ceremony.  This gives me ample time to unload the harp, position it, tune it, and consult with the wedding coordinator or officiant if needed.  Generally, I have found that guests begin arriving about twenty minutes prior to the start of the ceremony so I am ready to begin the prelude at that time, although I do not have a set prelude length.  While I am open to requests and do my best to fulfill them, I have a considerable repertoire of appropriate music for a wedding prelude.  In general, I perform classical music as it best fits the formality and ambience of the occasion.  I am thoroughly familiar with various religious denominations including what is allowed for certain denominations, taking great care to adhere to any requirements or restrictions.

Concerning musical selections for the processional(s) and recessional, I have taken place in many a conference call since many brides do not necessarily live locally.  I have found that it is very reassuring to the bride, groom and their families to discuss the musical selections rather than simply being asked to pick them from a CD or dealing with a musician who will not take time to speak with a client.  In addition, the couple is able to hear me play live and ask questions while I am able to discern what types of selections will work best for their wedding.

Some areas of the ceremony that can require special selections include:

From time to time, I am called upon to accompany a vocal or instrumental soloist during a wedding ceremony.  I am happy to do so with a couple of considerations.  I ask to be supplied with a copy of the music that will be performed if it is a composition that I do not already own.  In order to avoid additional rehearsal fees, I prefer to rehearse just prior to the wedding ceremony during my initial set-up time.  Please keep in mind that some compositions are not well suited for a harp accompaniment.  I can quickly determine the feasibility of your special requests and will be in immediate contact if the selection simply does not work well when played on a harp.
